CATAMARAN BUYING GUIDE

Sailing catamaran or power catamaran?

Sailing catamaran or power catamaran?

Sailing catamarans are often chosen for their living space, stability and ability to cruise under sail, while power catamarans place greater emphasis on propulsion, speed and convenient travel without relying on sails. When comparing listings, consider beam, cabin layout, draft and propulsion as well as overall length.

What to check when buying a catamaran

Inspect both hulls, the bridge structure, onboard systems, engines and included equipment. On a sailing catamaran, also review the mast, rigging and sails. Compare service history, what is included in the asking price and the berthing requirements created by the boat's beam.

Dimensions and berthing

A catamaran's beam can strongly affect marina availability, winter storage and transport. Compare length, beam, draft and overall height with the limits of the marinas and cruising areas you plan to use.

Equipment for cruising and life on board

For longer trips, cabin layout, berths, freshwater systems, galley equipment, navigation electronics, power systems and safety equipment can all matter. YachtFinder24 Advanced Search lets buyers narrow listings by technical specifications and equipment.
